World Cancer Day

Cancer has become one of the most pressing health concerns facing humankind, with experts predicting that 1 in 2 of us will develop the disease at some point in our lives.

On this year’s World Cancer Day (February 4) the campaign message is for us all, as individuals, to focus on what we can do to reduce the impact of cancer on our lives and those of our loved ones.

In dentistry, there are clear opportunities to raise awareness about cancers of the head, throat and mouth and the #IAmAndIWill campaign is stressing that a lot of little individual actions can make all the difference in making people aware.

So have a think about what your practice could do this February 4 – maybe you could put up some posters around the surgery, hand out leaflets on the symptoms to watch for, or use your social channels to offer advice on how diet and lifestyle can reduce the risk of oral cancers?

If you do take part in a World Cancer Day initiative, be sure to let us know – we’d love to share your efforts in our newsletter!
