Meet Jemimah!

Meet the Team: Jemimah Rowles

The past few months have been a really strange time for us all and here at Denka has been no exception. We’ve had large swathes of the dental industry shut down for an extended period and only now reopening, balanced against huge demand for certain products including PPE, sanitisers and disinfectants. Like all businesses, we’ve had to adapt quickly – and while this is always challenging for any employee, we must admit to having extra empathy with our new starts, who have come into the business at such a turbulent time. All we can say is, it’s character building! We recently introduced you to Harriet, and now it’s the turn of Jemimah, who has joined the sales team fresh from her final year at school and is working hard to find her feet!

Hi Jemimah! Tell us a little bit about your new role at Denka.

Hello! My job title is Sales Account Manager, looking after customer accounts. My role is as simple and as complicated as looking after my customers - making sure they all are supplied with what they need when they need it! I’ve only been here since the 1st of June but it has flown by so far.

What was your professional background prior to this?

None! This is my first job since leaving school so it’s all quite new to me.

What’s your favourite thing about your job so far – and the most challenging?

I love the satisfaction of providing exactly what the customer needs. And Denka is a great place to work to which is a big plus – everyone is very friendly!

The biggest challenge I’ve found is that there are so many dental products that I never knew existed! Many with unusual names and spellings – and when a customer rings in and asks for something it’s sometimes difficult to identify the exact product that they’re after. I’ve still got plenty to learn.

What would you say are the key attributes required to perform well in your role?

Good communication skills I reckon – being able to communicate the information that the customer needs to know and being able to listen to then to understand exactly what they’re wanting.

If you didn’t work at Denka, what would your dream job be?

I would love to be some sort of travel journalist - visiting unusual places across the world for a living.

Do you have any hobbies or interests away from work?

Nothing that I’m particularly passionate about! I do love swimming, but I guess my favorite thing to do is to be out somewhere nice with friends or family, with some good food and drink and just sit round and talk!

Name a food you love that your dentist would disapprove of?

Most probably my absolute addiction to coffee.

What’s the one thing that always makes you smile?

School memories! I can’t say I was the best-behaved student but we certainly had a lot of fun!
